Jane Kirkpatrick is one of my favorite authors , she has this quote on her website .

From the author...

quoteopenI've finished my latest manuscript with insights about the benefits of completion.  As Leonard Cohen wrote:  “ring the bells you still can ring / forget your perfect offering / everything has cracks / it’s how the light gets in.”  Let the light in to your day with my latest words of encouragement. quoteclose

I think this can apply to us as quilters. We are always learning , though we can aim for perfection, we can never reach it . Beginners especially should not expect perfection on their very first project ,or even on their 2nd , or  3rd  project . Leave the mistakes , accept them, learn from them , say thank you  when complemented , don't point out your mistakes !

Quilt tops and backings

I love the fabric that I found for the back of this quillt top.

I had another quilt top in mind to use this backing with , but I
thought that this went together amazingly well. Will choose something else for the backing for the other quilt top.

I really like this fabric , but I am not sure what quilt top I will
use it with yet.

Post 22 - October 11

I am so happy and here is the reason why. I now have all the flowers completed and sewed in rows for my quilt. I have 4 seams to sew and I will have all 9 rows of my quilt joined together .

Post 21- October 10

I spent a fair amount of time each on my blocks in the past few days . .After I replace a flower in row 4 -10 , I just have to sew the units together . Then after that there will be a few hexagons to place in various spots along the left and right borders. It feels to good to be this far along .

Post 20 - October 4

I haven't posted in a while but have still been working on my quilt. I am working on Row 9 .I had forgotten how much time it takes to add the paper and baste each individual hexagon before I can assemble them into rows. Each flower is made up of 7 hexagons , and I had to make 12 new ones plus some partial ones. Then of course are all the off white hexagons , over a 100 of those I think. Anyhow I may be a while, but I am working a bit most everyday on it .

post 19

I have been working on my quilt this week as much as I can . I now have row 3 sewed to row 4 . I have to make 2 partial blocks and one full block before I can start sewing row 5 to row 6 . The same for rows 7 and 8, and then I will have to assemble some more blocks for the 9th and final row .

Post 17

Although I have not posted in awhile I have been working on my quilts. I finally finished the baby quilt that I was working on .I was really pleased that it turned out so well . I am making progress on my Grandmothers Flower Garden. I had 8 rows all sewn together and then decided to make some changes . I am adding a block to each row so the quilt will have 9 rows across and 10 down. I have added the extra block to 4 of the rows so far. I also have to have a partial block to each row, alternating from the bottom to the top. You will understand this more clearly in a picture. So far I just have 2 complete rows sewn to each other. I have started sewing together the 3rd and 4th rows.
